Melissa Dougherty has two Associate’s degrees, one in Early Childhood Multicultural Education, the other in Liberal Arts, and a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Southern Evangelical Seminary. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Religious Studies as well.

Melissa was saved at 16 years old and her life dramatically changed as a result. However, one of the issues she ran into was that she had many questions about Christianity and the Bible and nobody around her could answer them for her. She didn’t know it at the time, but she had a love for apologetics and a hunger for theology. This has led her to provide answers to the questions that others ask about the Christian faith and worldview.

Today, she joins us to talk about her new book “Happy Lies”, which details the false promises and faulty claims associated with the “positive thinking” movement.

Science, math, and reason will always support the historicity of the Bible. Dr. Joseph Holden, President of Veritas International University, Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Brian Nixon, and Archaeologist Dr. Gary Byers explain how VIU’s school of Apologetics trains students to defend the Christian worldview from a classical/evidential perspective. There are many examples of discoveries in science confirming the existence of God, and the accuracy of the Bible. Read about one such example with the discovery of the ancient city of Sodom. Archaeologists Dr. Steven Collins and Dr. Gary Byers lead a team of scientists and excavators for 16 years at Tall el Hamman in Jordan where they unearthed and documented the destruction of the city. The confirm the city was destroyed exactly as described in Genisis 19:23-28. Read about the science here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-97778-3.
