Since 1979 Joni and Friends has committed to reaching and serving people with disabilities with practical help and the saving love of Jesus.

“Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.… Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full” (Luke 14:21, 23, NIV).

Travis Yoakum is the Associate Vice President of the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch. He joins us to talk about the work he is doing to help at-risk children in our community. The Mission Statement for The Ranches is, “Rekindling Hope in At Risk Youth.” When combined with the purpose statement, “To provide services for young people and families in pursuit of a brighter tomorrow,” a truth emerges: the power of hope to transform lives. As a Christian organization they know the importance of good values, including hope. However, such values must be practiced in order to bring change in the lives of the young people who go to the ranch.
