September 11, 2021, is the 20th Anniversary of the Attack on America. Mark Chavez was an Albuquerque Fire Fighter, and Vince Harrison was a detective in the Albuquerque Police Department. Both men volunteered to go to New York City shortly after the attack on 9/11 to render assistance and help the people of New York any way they could. They will never forget the attack on America and the courageous lives of the first responders!

 

Justin Gibbins uses his love of hunting to encourage the people he loves, HUNTERS, by sharing his faith in the Savior he loves, JESUS.  He founded LIMITLESS OUTDOORS to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the hunting community through high-quality videos on YouTube. Andrew Pryor is the Director of Assimilation. He follows up with new believers and those who want to be discipled through the First Mile discipleship program that Limitless Outdoors offers. Men and Women in the hunting community are part of the ministry and the sport they are passionate about.

Dennis Poper is the Co-Chair for New Mexico Men of Honor. He is constantly looking to reach out to men where they are in life. The ministry hosts quarterly gatherings with speakers like Justin Gibbins.

On May 27, 2001, American Missionaries Gracia Burnham and her husband Martin had their anniversary celebration interrupted when terrorists kidnapped them in the early morning hours from their resort room in the Dos Palmas Resort on Palawan Island Phillippines. Gracia will be sharing time Sunday morning with the Sunday school children at 9:15 am and in the morning worship service at 10:30 am. Colonel James Quick (USAF Ret.) and Chief Master Sergeant Fred Bryant (USAF Ret.) are working to help spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country through scholarships and other assistance. Colonel Quick serves as the President of Folds of Honor New Mexico, and Cheif Master Sargeant serves on the Board of Directors. The Folds of Honor Foundation is rallying a nation to ensure no family is left behind in the fight to preserve American freedom. Colonel Quick said, “Being called upon to help a family is a Godly thing. The Sagebrush Auto Show returns for a twelfth year on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Sagebrush Church, located at the Riverside Campus on Albuquerque’s Westside (6440 Coors Blvd NW; the intersection of Coors and LaOrilla). The event is FREE to attend from 9 am until 3 pm. Food and drinks are FREE.  Event Co-Chairman, Dave Rayes and  Kevin Koppenhaver said, “The show attracts more than 200 classic cars, hotrods, customs, and all kinds of motorcycles each year.”

The car show is judged and will feature individual and car club entries from all over New Mexico. The cost to enter a vehicle in the show is $25. The Sagebrush Auto Show will give trophies for over two dozen classes/categories of cars, trucks, and motorcycles to include an overall best of the show, chairman’s choice, and Pastor Todd’s choice.  Registration forms can be found at https://www.sagebrush.church/ website or can be picked up at the church office.

The Reload Love Afghanistan Emergency Relief Campaign is underway. Lenya Heitzig is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Reload Love. She said, “They say when a kid is traumatized (by terror), there are three things you should do. Get them to safety, acknowledge what happened (listen to their story and affirm it’s not their fault), and restore normalcy. Whether that is a soccer ball, crayons, a playground, whatever it is, it will help kids recover from trauma.” Reload Love provides trauma relief, medical supplies, academic programs & safe spaces (such as playgrounds) for children victimized by terrorism. Nic McKinley served our county in the United States Air Force and the Central Intelligence Agency for over 17 years. His experience includes six combat deployments into Afghanistan. During this time, he became aware of the atrocities that humans are capable of and the inadequate to nonexistent methods to eradicate the problems. Nic shares his hurts and hopes for the people he loves in Afghanistan as the US Military leaves the country. He explains the 20-year mission of US Forces in Afghanistan and how we ended up in the mess we are in today.

Calvary Elementary School has started the 2021-22 school year with grades K-2 on the campus of Calvary Church.
