Ernie C’de Baca is the CEO and President of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce. Today he explains the “financial burden” the City Council’s proposed “Sick Leave Bill” would be on small business. It has been 244 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In 1776 these words gave hope to slaves and free men alike: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness.”

It took 89 years, and civil war before slavery was finally ended with the signing of the 13th amendment to the constitution on January 31, 1865. “Black Lives Matter” is a movement expressing the fear and frustration Black citizens of this country continue to experience since the days of slavery. The time is now for a courageous Biblical response from white Christians to listen, learn, and act to change our culture.

New Mexico House Minority Leader James (Jim) Townsend joins the program today to tell us about the new movement sweeping our state called RESPECT New Mexico. Jim has served four-terms representing the people of District 54. His closest friends are both Democrats and Republicans. As the minority leader in the house, he wants to see all of our children thrive as they grow up in a state with excellent schools, good jobs, and healthy families. Archaeology supports the recorded history of the Bible. Steven Collins, PH.D., and Gary Byers, Ph.D., have spent a large portion of their lives uncovering the archeological evidence to prove it!  Dr. Collins is the Chief Archeologist with the Tall el-Hammam excavation project in the Jordan Valley. He is also Director of the Ph.D. program of Archeology and Biblical History with Veritas International University. Dr. Byers is the Assistant Director of the Tall el-Hammam excavation project and Shiloh, Israel. He also serves as the Dean of the College of Archaeology and Biblical History with Trinity Southwest University. Steven and Gary join Trinity Southwest University Director of Donor Relations and Media, Larissa Lusko, on the program today.

Chris, Matt, and Nick have been working together to organize the Community Drive-Thru Family Food Relief event planned for this Saturday, June 20, 2020, in the parking lot of Cliffs Amusement Park. Cliff’s address is 4800 Osuna Rd. NE in Albuquerque. If you would like to pick up food, please access the Pan American from Jefferson, and head north to Osuna. Turn right into the parking lot of Cliff’s Amusement Park, and volunteers will put a box of fresh food in your back seat or the trunk of your car. Citizen Church, Sagebrush Church, and Calvary Church have come together with Convoy of Hope to provide this food for our families.

My friend Rick O White went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2019. I am very thankful for Rick and his friendship. I miss him! God works through people to speak His truth into our lives.  In second grade, Rick was there standing up for me with two fourth graders giving me a hard time. In high school, when I needed some humbling, Rick, the wrestler, smashed my face into the mat, and in less than two minutes, he clarified for me that basketball was not the hardest sport.

If you have someone that God has used to encourage you, I hope you will tell them now. Julie, I love your husband. Jordan and Whitney, I love your Dad. Sally, Butch, and Teddi, I love you and your family. Thank you, Rick White, for being my friend! We miss you!
