Summer 2020 was the first season in the history of Cliff’s Amusement Park that they were closed!  Albuquerque missed Water Mania, Downdraft, the New Mexico Rattler, Cliff Hanger, and Fireball, to name a few of the thrilling rides families enjoy at Cliff’s Amusement Park.  Co-Owner, Gary Hays, said he has not been provided with any data or supporting information from the State of New Mexico as to why the State Health Department has shut down Cliff’s Amusement Park. National data show amusement parks around the U.S. have been opened for several months without any substantial COVID-19 outbreaks. Gary’s goal for 2021 is to open the park as early in the spring as possible.

Please pray for Gary and Linda’s business and the others in our community negatively affected by the State Health Department’s orders! Click on the links for more information about Cliff’s Amusement Park and their plans moving forward.

Calvary Church Westside, Campus Pastor Jesse Lusko loves to have conversations with people, and he is interested in finding out about what they care about.  The most challenging part of these discussions is that Jesse is often visiting with atheists, and they disagree with him about his faith in Jesus. Here are a few quotes from Jesse today from our interview about Atheism and Belief in God:

“God doesn’t have to do a miracle to convince an atheist because his ordinary works convince him. It is true that a little philosophy inclines a man’s mind to atheism, but depth of philosophy brings men’s minds back to religion.” Francis Bacon

“People almost invariably arrive at their beliefs, not based on proof, but on the basis on what they find attractive. It is so important that we show people the beauty of Christ.” Blaise Pascal

“Tell me about the God you don’t believe in; maybe I don’t believe in him either.” It’s amazing how many people hate Christianity, not having the faintest idea of what it teaches.” Dorothy L Sayers, Christian, Crime writer, and Poet (one of the first women to graduate from Oxford).

Dr. Brian  Nixon oversees Education and Publishing for Calvary Church in Albuquerque. With civil unrest in our country, the stress of COVID-19, and the election results in mind, Brian gives us some perspective on how we should be treating one another.

“God is still in control; nothing is outside of his boundaries; there is nothing that is surprising him. He is still in control. He is sovereign regardless of who becomes the next President of the United States.”
