Col. James Quick- who formerly served with United States Air Force and now works with Folds of Honor- and Albuquerque Fire Department Captain Greg Aragon join us to talk about the challenges associated with helping meet the needs of the families of military veterans.

Dr. Brian Thomas received a master’s in biotechnology in 1999 from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, and a Ph.D. in paleobiochemistry in 2019 from the University of Liverpool. In 2008 Dr. Thomas joined the Institute for Creation Research as a science writer and editor, contributing news and magazine articles, speaking on creation issues, and researching original tissue fossils.

Dr. Jeff Tomkins earned a master’s degree in plant science in 1990 from the University of Idaho, where he performed research in plant hormones. He received his Ph.D. in genetics from Clemson University in 1996. In 2009, Dr. Tomkins joined the Institute for Creation Research. After receiving his Ph.D., he worked at a genomics institute and became a faculty member in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson.

 

Both men join us today on ABQ Connect to talk about the creation-evolution debate, and what led them to consider themselves creationists. They talk about the ongoing work that is being done at the Institute for Creation Research to defend the Young Earth Creationist view.

Carla Sonntag of the New Mexico Business Coalition joins us to talk about some recent bills under discussion at the New Mexico Roundhouse. There are a number of proposals being proposed that will impact businesses in New Mexico and Carla informs us about these effects and the ways in which New Mexicans can get involved.

Jenni Beadle is the Children’s Ministry Director at New Life Church. She joins us to talk about a Bible study she has started for high school-age girls that is designed to encourage and strengthen their relationships with God. She explains her heart for the girls she leads and gives some insight into the issues that they face.

Brian Nixon- academic dean of Calvary College- and Luke Betzner- registrar for Calvary College- join us to talk about the importance of the Christian Church establishing a presence in the educational and academic spheres. They tell us about the educational philsophy and practices of Calvary College. They also describe the thought process behind their podcast “SQ@CC” (pronounced “Squak”), which addresses complex and relevant theological issues.

Dina Day and Laurie Westlake work with Faith Comes By Hearing. They join us to talk about the work being done to translate the Bible into every language on earth and create recordings of all of these translations to be heard by people in their native tongues around the world.
