Mental health training and suicide prevention are the calling of our guests today on ABQ Connect. Gavi Ola Feck is a retired member of the military and an IFOC Chaplain. She facilitates Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster Training as part of the “Operation: BE KIND” program. She is also the author of a book called “Reduce Suicide Ideation: Think 3-2-1“. Desiree Woodland is the President Emeritus of Breaking the Silence NM and the author of “I Still Believe,” a book she wrote the loss of her 24-year-old son Ryan. Her life is dedicated now to normalizing the discussion about mental health and suicide. Desiree retired from her 19-year teaching career in the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho public schools to co-create a curriculum for schools called “Talking Mental Health.” Pastor Gary Villa is the Interim Associate Teacher with Refuge Church, and he is part of the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Faith Community Workgroup.
