I grew up in Eveleth, Mn. I played my first college game at Minnesota State as a freshman but left the team for higher aspirations . I was told to try out for the Vulcans , the coach told me I made the team, I threw a vicious check on my first play. My linemate growing up was Mark Pavelich RIP. I A young looking kid came up to me and said, “ Hi , I’m your left wing.” It was Stan Hubbard. On the right was Butsy Erickson from Roseau. We had a fun year. I woke up in the hospital ending my year, and career on ice. Stan was a good kid. I may have seen more of him as a guy named John Mayasich ( who’s wife delivered me) asked me to go to the Hubbard ice rink, I didn’t. A big regret!
