Darryl Strawberry is an American former professional baseball right fielder and author who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball. He was the first pick of the New York Mets in the 1980 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. His Baseball accomplishments include 1983 MLB Rookie of the Year; 4-time World Series Champion; National League “Silver Slugger Award” winner twice; 335 home runs, and more. Unfortunately, his baseball success was cut short by addiction and what Darryl calls “Self-Indulgence Now.”
In June of 1993, Darryl joined the Albuquerque Dukes for a six-day “rehab” assignment. “Big Leaguers” had joined the Dukes before, but none with the humble, kind approach of Darryl Strawberry. It was a privilege to tell Darryl that I witnessed him coming back out onto the Sports Stadium field (now Isotopes) after a Sunday afternoon game where he spent the next two hours (plus) signing autographs for every child that wanted to say hello to him. All these years later, I get tears in my eyes telling this story. Listen to my conversation with Darryl and find out how to “TURN YOUR SEASON AROUND.” Click on the links for more information about the FINDING YOUR WAY MINISTRY of Darryl and Tracy Strawberry.
